Heigl Picks A Plum Role

Katherine Heigl is attached to star in "One for the Money", an adaptation of the first of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels, reports Variety.

Heigl will play Plum, a rather average single New Jersey girl and lingerie buyer recently laid off. To make ends meet she sets out to become a file clerk at a Bail Bonds office but ends up taking the only position available - a bounty hunter.

Reese Witherspoon had been lined up to play the role but that incarnation fell apart. There was buzz at one time that Sandra Bullock or Anne Hathaway had been interested in the role.

Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith penned the screenplay which Liz Brixius will polish.

Tom Rosenberg, Wendy Finerman and Gary Lucchesi are producing the film.
