Australian director Scott Hicks ("Snow Falling on Cedars," "Shine") is in negotiations to direct "The Lucky One" to the screen says Variety. The story is based upon author Nicholas Sparks' novel which follows a Marine who returns to North Carolina after having survived three tours of duty in Iraq.
He attributes his good luck to a photo he has always carried with him, a photo of a woman he's never met. Now that he's returned, he sets out to meet her.
Will Fetters will adapt the script.
Denise Di Novi and Kevin McCormick are producing the pic.
This is the seventh Sparks tome to be adapted for the big screen with True Believer in development.
