The film directed by Matthijs Van Heijningen from a script by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer, will explain how the alien was first discovered by a Norwegian research team in the Antarctic-as detailed inJohn Carpenter's 1982 horror classic.
Winstead will play a PhD candidate who joins the research team after it discovers a spaceship in the ice. When an alien organism escapes and goes on the rampage, she teams up with a blue-collar mercenary helicopter pilot (Edgerton) to stop the creature.
Winstead has plenty of genre experience in the remake of Black Christmas, Final Destination 3 and Death Proof
We can expect more casting to announcements to happenm soon as filming is set to begin on March 15.
