Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn ("Bronson," "Valhalla Rising") tells Empire that he's gonna helm the crime noir "Drive" as his next pic, (taking over for Neil Marshall) forcing him to drop out of two films with which he was previously linked. An adaptation of James Sallis' novel, "Drive" stars Ryan Gosling (replacing the just departed Hugh Jackman) as a Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver for thieves.
Refn left behind Jekyll, the new spin on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novella "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" starring Keanu Reeves'
Refn's withdrawal from that project is due to a scheduling conflict.
The other is Harrison Ford's upcoming film The Dying Of The Light written by Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver)
Ford plays a CIA agent who becomes blind during his final mission.
Refn telling the site that "Unfortunately, it just didn't work out. It's a shame. The script was fantastic but things fall apart. It's one of those things that's difficult - I really like Harrison and I think we got along great."
