Smurf's Up!

Deadline Hollywood reports that Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast of the CG/live-action "Smurfs" movie.

The How I Met Your Mother star will play a live-action character.

In the new movie a first-time expectant mother is faced with juggling both an overworked husband (Harris) and, ultimately, a household full of the small blue critters

Industry legend Jonathan Winters (It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World) will voice Papa Smurf.

Raja Gosnell (Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Scooby-Doo) is directing the pic from a screenplay by J. David Stem & David N. Weiss.

Jordan Kerner is producing the film.

The question I wanna know the answer to is who will play Smurf villain Gargamel and will he be flesh and blood or tooned.

Cameras roll in April for a scheduled theatrical release on July 29th, 2011.
