Son David Paterson will adapt his mother Katherine's upcoming fantasy novel "The Flint Heart" into a film script says Variety.
From the Stone Age to contemporary England, the book centers on a magical amulet that brings power and despair to those who touch it.
The project will be a live-action film but "special effects driven".
Paterson also adapted his mother's novel "Bridge To Terabithia" into a successful family pic
