Gwen No Longer A Girl

Gwyneth Paltrow has dropped out of Lasse Hallstrom's sex-change-drama "The Danish Girl" reports Harper's Bazaar via The Playlist.

Based on the non-fiction book by David Ebershoff, Paltrow was playing Gerda Wegener, a portrait painter in 1920s Copenhagen who asked her husband Einar to stand in for an absent female model.

Slipping on a dress, stockings and woman’s shoes began a metamorphosis into Lili. When the photos became wildly popular, Greta encouraged her husband to do more.

The harmless game evolved into something deeper - the landmark 1931 first sex-change operation that shocked the world and threatened their marriage. Greta finally let go when she realized the man she married no lnger exists.

Paltrow says family commitments and the hectic location shooting as the reasons for her withdrawal.

The pic was to start filming next month in Budapest, Prague and Denmark.

Charlize Theron was previously attached to the role when Tomas Alfredson was set to direct.

Nicole Kidman , Gail Mutrux, Anne Harrison, Linda Reisman, and Per Saari will co-produce the pic.
