Variety reports that Dustin Lance Black has been hired to write the script for the film adaptation of the Colton Harris-Moore biopic

"Taking Flight: The Hunt for a Young Outlaw" is based upon on an article by Bob Friel called The Ballad of Colton Harris-Moore for Outside Magazine

The story centers on a teenager from the Pacific Northwest who escaped juvenile custody in 2008 and is now a suspect in more than 100 crimes, mostly felonies.

Dubbed 'The Barefoot Burglar', Harris-Moore apparently taught himself how to fly aircraft in order to evade local police, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security His alleged crimes have generally consisted of stealing cars, boats and planes.He was arrested July 11th in the Bahamas as he attempted to flee on a boat.

David Gordon Green ("Pineapple Express") is in final talks to direct.
