Front & Center

Dwayne Johnson is in final negotiations to star in the "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" sequel that's being called "Journey 2 The Mysterious Island" says Heat Vision.

In the first pic, Brendan Fraser starred as a scientist who discovers a previously unseen underground world along with his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and a guide (Anita Briem).

Fraser bowed out due to scheduling issues, but Hutcherson will be back.

Johnson will play the boyfriend of Sean's mother and is forced to come along on a trip with Sean to find his missing grandfather on a mythical and monstrous island.

Three other characters will be introduced and cast in the next few weeks. Like the first pic, this one will be shot in 3-D

Brad Peyton will direct the sequel.

Filming kicks off late October in North Carolina and Hawaii.
