YOU Will See Potter In 3-D
The suits at Warner Bros. may have opted recently NOT to release "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows" Part 1 in 3-D, but that doesn't mean Harry will escape its evil clutches entirely
Variety reports that the studio has begun conversions of the previous two films in the series - “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
The company behind the very rushed 3-D conversion of "Clash of the Titans", Prime Focus will handle the conversion of both pics--the company has turned down 'rush jobs', so unlike 'Titans' this conversion work will proceed at a careful and methodical pace.
Due to director David Yates commitments to both parts 1 and 2 of "Deathly Hallows", he won't be able to oversee the conversions until next year. The studio is not discussing any release date or street date for the titles on disc, thus the studio can keep its options open and spend extra time if needed on the conversions.
A limited 3-D re-release of "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" shortly before the second part on July 15th 2011 may happen, but at least four big Summer flicks will hit throughout June and into July and will severely limit any potential share the studio would take since a large number of 3-D screens would already be in use
