At least two spox for said filmmakers have been approached about their clients taking over directing duties on the follow-up. There were reported rumors that Sommers and the studio were having a difficult time getting along on the first film, but it wasn't enough to stop Sommers being officially announced as director for the sequel a few months ago.
Sommers is currently at work prepping a new film about Tarzan
Zombieland" duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been attached to write the script for the "G.I. Joe" sequel for over a year.
I liked Sommers work on the first film more than most--Curious to see who steps in to take the job
