Dark Tower Slowly Moves Ahead

Ron Howard tells EW that he now expects to begin shooting the ambitious adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" next spring--6 months later than the original start date.

We had to pull back to our September start date due to budget delays and ongoing story development and logistical issues, but Dark Tower is moving forward. We’re thinking of starting in early spring now."

Where does that leave things as far as star Javier Bardem is concerned?  He's still attached...But

It sounds as though he isn't as locked into the role of Gunslinger Roland Deschain as was first thought.

"I can’t really say who’ll be in it yet, but Javier Bardem has shown a great deal of interest. We’ll know by the end of the summer, when our flashing green light goes solid" adds Howard.

Howard, Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman had to rework the scope after the project hit budget snags from Universal Pictures a few weeks ago

The May 17th 2013 release date for the first film hasn't been changed yet, it's a safe bet the film will have to be pushed back.

Stay Tuned.
