Percy Gets A Sequel

Thor Freudenthal (Diary of a Wimpy Kid")  has been hired to direct the sequel Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters  says The Los Angeles Times. Logan Lerman is back as the title character

Chris Columbus who helmed the first film The Lightning Thief is expected to produce this time out.

The film follows an ordinary boy who discovers that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. In the 2nd book by author Rick Riordan Percy and his group of friends set out to find the mythical Golden Fleece and free a friend who has been captured.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski ("Ed Wood," "Agent Cody Banks") will write the script using  elements from other books in the series as well

The film will go into production soon in order to have it out by sometime next year.
