Tom Hanks will star in and produce a  Major Matt Mason movie according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The pic be a 3-D outer space adventure based on the 1966 astronaut action figure Major Matt Mason.

Hanks and Graham Yost are co-writing the screenplay.

Hanks is in talks with Robert Zemeckis to potentially helm the film; He directs Denzel Washington in Flight next
