There's No Escape

The long gestating remake of John Carpenter's 1981 classic Escape from New York has hit a major setback says Deadline

The option has expired and the folks behind the idea are not seeking to retain it

The original saw hard ass anti-hero Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) living in a near future totalitarian United States where Manhattan Island has been turned into a maximum security prison and Plissken has one day to rescue the U.S. President (Donald Pleasance) who is being held hostage there.

Producer Neal Moritz saw the likes of Gerard Butler, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hardy linked to play Plissken
