O'Dowd Discovers The Sapphires

Chris O'Dowd has joined the cast of Wayne Blair's film adaptation of the hit Aussie musical comedy "The Sapphires" says  Variety.

Set in 1968, the story follows a girl band (Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy, Shari Sebbens and Miranda Tapsell) when they get plucked from obscurity in a remote Aboriginal mission by an unlikely Irish talent scout (O'Dowd) who takes them to entertain the troops during the Vietnam War

Adapted by Keith Thompson (Clubland) and playwright Tony Briggs, the pic begins shooting this month.
