The latest batch of Cinema Stew is boiled over with bits...


-Ricky Gervais may not be back to host next year's Golden Globes ceremony, but the comedian came up with a brilliant idea to still be involved via This Side of Truth

-Italian helmer Luca Guadagnino ("I Am Love") is set to make his first English-language film with the help of Studiocanal and Ridley and Tony Scott's Scott Free reports Variety.

-Producer David Katzenberg along with "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" author Seth Grahame-Smith have recently signed a two-year first-look feature producing deal at Warner Bros. Pictures says Deadline. One of the pics a follow-up to Tim Burton's 1988 supernatural comedy "Beetlejuice". The film will NOT be a remake, rather the plan is to "reboot it by advancing the storyline of the original".

-John Scheinfeld ("The U.S. vs. John Lennon") will direct RLF Victor Productions' "Fame & Fortune", an adaptation of the 2007 biography "Elvis: Still Taking Care of Business" written by former Presley bodyguard Sonny West and biographer Marshall Terrill says The Hollywood Reporter.

-They worked together on "Manderlay" and "Antichrist", now Danish director Lars Von Trier and actor Willem Dafoe might reunite for Von Trier's next pic "The Nymphomaniac" reports C7nema.

-Filmmakers Andrew Lau ("Infernal Affairs") and Peter Chan Ho-sun ("Warlords") are teaming up for thriller "The Guillotines" says Screen Daily.The story follows a covert assassination squad that carries out secret missions for the Emperor, using the deadly flying guillotine as a weapon. Huang Xiaoming ("The Message"), Ethan Juan ("Monga"), Shawn Yue ("Reign Of Assassins") and Boran Jing ("Hot Summer Days") all star.Production is underway.

-Tree Line Films and Montecito Picture Company are set to produce an adaptation of the Anne Fortier novel "Juliet" at Paramount Pictures says Deadline.The story follows a young adult woman who learns she is a descendant of one of the feuding families made infamous in Romeo and Juliet. She travels to Italy and discovers that a 600-year-old curse has tied her fate to that of literature’s greatest lovers. Chad and Dara Creasey are writing the script.

-Alcon Entertainment has inked a deal with Canadian animation studio Arc Productions to turn their animated short "Ormie" into a feature film reports Variety.

-"Killer Elite" director Gary McKendry, writer Matt Sherring and producer Sigurjon Sighvatsson are re-teaming for an English-language remake of 2010 French thriller "Joseph and the Girl" reports Variety.

-"South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have confirmed they intend to turn their Tony-winning Broadway comedy-musical hit "The Book of Mormon" into a film reports EW.

-British character actor Eddie Marsan will star in, write and make his directorial debut on "Pell Mell" says Screen Daily The story is described as “Shakespeare’s Richard III set in 1960s London” and shooting aims to kick off next year.

-Cecchi Gori Pictures has picked up the film rights to "Global Flyer" the autobiography of British hang-gliding champion Brian Milton says Deadline.  Milton had a near-death crash in 1987. A year later, he attempted to become the first man to circumvent the globe in a microlight and did it in 80 days. The feat earned him a place as one of the 10 top British adventurers of all time.

-Future Films has won the film rights to the supernatural mystery comic "Hope Falls" reports Bleeding Cool.Tony Lee and Dan Boultwood created the comic about a girl who returns to her home town after 20 years, who is then revealed to have been murdered by a group of men who are now prominent town citizens. Now she’s out for some supernatural revenge. The comic was recently republished in an ultimate edition.

-Jason Bourne film producer Frank Marshall is planning a feanchise launcher for the works of another acclaimed espionage thriller author - Jeffrey Archer says The Hollywood Reporter. Last year New Franchise Media won the worldwide film, TV and digital rights to ten of Archer's novels. Now Marshall has come on to help turn two of them - "A Matter of Honor" and "Honor Among Thieves" into a films with the character of Adam Scott as the main focus

-Leonard Nimoy, Abigail Breslin, Jeff Goldblum and Samuel L. Jackson have joined the voice cast for the 3-D animated feature "Zambezia" says Screen Daily.

-British filmmaker Julian Gilbey has signed to helm the sci-fi action thriller "Offworld" reports Empire.

-"Coriolanus" producer Julia Taylor-Stanley and "Senna" writer Manish Pandey are teaming for a drama about the Ferrari racing team says Screen Daily.

-Ann Peacock is in final negotiations to rewrite an untitled re-imagining of classic fairy tale "Cinderella" at Universal Pictures and Stuber Pictures says VarietyMichael Dougherty ("Superman Returns") penned the previous draft, The story details are being kept under wraps. Bruno Aveillan is set to direct while Scott Stuber and Pam Abby are producing. Disney recently hired Mark Romanek to helm its own untitled take on the Cinderella story

-Former Harry Potter star Rupert Grint will join Jim Broadbent, David Tennant and Stephen Mangan as part of the voice cast for a 3D film adaptation of British kids series "Postman Pat" says The Hollywood Reporter.
