The story follows Jay Moriarity (Jonny Weston), a Santa Cruz native who found his calling in the world of surfing at a young age and flourished under the guidance of local elder Rick “Frosty” Hesson (Gerard Butler). Moriarty passed away the day before his 23rd birthday in a free-diving accident in the Maldives.
Brandon Hooper wrote the script from which Curtis Hanson will direct
Rambin will play Moriarty’s best friend and potential love interest in the film.
This marks Hanson’s first theatrical feature since "Lucky You" five years ago
