The film is a "biographical musical fantasy", that follows a musician trying to navigate through the rough patches in his life. It will incorporate elements of John's life - being a child piano prodigy at age 11, the rebellion against his strict upbringing, and teaming up with songwriter Bernie Taupin .
"Billy Elliot" writer Lee Hall penned the now finished screenplay
There will also be choreographed musical numbers set to his hit songs.
The search for a director is underway
John, Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish will produce the pic
