Denzel Washington is poised to play a pilot that rescues his passengers from a dangerous situation but who turns out not to be as heroic as he appears as his negligence (due to an addiction) was partly responsible for the danger in the first place.
John Gatins wrote the scripted drama
Reilly would play Nicole Devlin, a drug addict who is at rock bottom when she meets Washington's commercial airline pilot character.
Olivia Wilde and Dominique McElligott were also in the running, but Reilly ultimately won the part.
Filming starts next month
