Dredd director Peter Travis has reportedly been edged out of working on the reboot's post-production following heated disputes with producers says The L.A. Times.
According to the article the decision was made after filming was complete and Travis got into "creative disagreements" with the producers. The 2 sides apparently "did not see eye-to-eye on footage Travis was delivering".
Despite his removal, Travis is "keeping up with progress via the Internet".
Script writer and producer Alex Garland will now take charge and may be involved in some reshoots and/or \seek a co-director credit.
Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey star in this version of the dystopian film in a time of Megacities where a police force is given the power to act as judge, jury and executioner to whomsoever they perceive to be part of the criminal element.
Meantime Dream House director Jim Sheridan sought to have his name pulled off the pic.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Sheridan went to the DGA, over the Summer to have his name excised from the credits. If his bid had gone to term the film would've had an Alan Smithee credit , Hollywood's equivalent of John Doe.director's credit. However the bid was dropped due to several factors including the studio agreeing to finance some reshoots.
Sheridan reportedly began deviating from David Loucka's script early on which lead to the aforementioned test screening. The suits panicked and took control of the film in the edit room meaning the theatrical version is not Sheridan's cut of the film.
Sheridan declined to do any publicity for the film.
