The pic adapts author Matthew Quick's 2008 book of the same name
The story follows a delusional former high school history teacher (Bradley Cooper) who's just been released into the custody of his mom (Jacki Weaver). Believing that he’s only been away for a few months instead of the four years he just spent in a mental institution, the teacher sets about wooing back his ex-wife. but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbor (Jennifer Lawrence) with problems of her own
Ortiz will play Cooper's childhood best friend, who still lives near his parents' home
Robert De Niro also stars as Cooper's dad.
