Objector's Tale Becomes Film

Aaron Schneider ("Get Low") is gonna direct the true story bio "The Conscientious Objector" says Deadline.

The pic will tell the story of Desmond Doss, the first conscientious objector in American history to win the Congressional Medal of Honor in World War II who refused to kill or even carry a gun and ended up saving the lives of seventy-five men at the Battle of Okinawa.

Robert Schenkkan ("The Pacific," "The Quiet American") wrote the script.

Bill Mechanic, David Permut and Terry Benedict will produce.
