Rupert Wyatt Takes Apes 2 Before Londongrad

"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director Rupert Wyatt may be tackling its sequel before moving on to the real life drama "Londongrad" according to Deadline.

Based on author Alan Cowell "The Terminal Spy," the story revolves around former Soviet KGB officer Alexander Litvinenko who was poisoned by a lethal dose of polonium-210-induced acute radiation syndrome in 2006, blaming Russian secret service agents and Russian leader Vladimir Putin before his death.

"X-Men: First Class" actor Michael Fassbender was said to up for the Litvinenko role

The film boasts a script by David Scarpa. Johnny Depp and Graham King will produce the film

It seems that Wyatt will now be returning to the Apes franchise first.

Nevertheles King says that he would wait for Wyatt to make Londongrad, even with the risk of  losing Fassbender.

"[Rupert] came to us and Warners," King told The Playlist, "and said 'I love this script, and I'd love to make this, but  [Apes] is what I'm doing now.' And we were like, fine. He's a great filmmaker, and I really hope I get to work with him."
