Green would take the role of Artemisia, the ruthless, gold-covered goddess who persuades king-turned-god Xerxes to amass his army and helps lead the charge against the Greek forces. The giant battle at the center of the film is said to be happening simultaneously with the events of the original "300."
"Warrior" star Joel Edgerton recently turned down the lead role of Themosticles, the general of the Greek army. Rodrigo Santoro, has been cast as Xerxes.

The hope is to start filming 300: Battle of Artemisia in the first quarter of 2012.
