The story follows several characters including a university professor (Ejiofor) and his girlfriend (Newton), their houseboy along with several more and sets it against the backdrop of the Nigerian Civil War in the late 60's when southern Nigeria attempted to secede and form their own country.
Cooper will play a British ex-patriot studying in Nigeria.
Nigerian playwright Biyi Bandele will be making his directorial debut on the film
Andrea Calderwood and Gail Egan are producing the film.
Production kicks off in March.
