Lestat's Big Screen Return

Imagine Entertainment has optioned the rights to "The Tale of the Body Thief", the fourth book in author Anne Rice best-selling series "The Vampire Chronicles" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The tale finds a lonely and depressed The Vampire Lestat deciding to transfer souls for a day with a psychic who, after the transfer, reveals that he has no intention of switching back. Lestat, now in a human body and with the help of some friends, must track down the man and get his body back.

The pic marks the third film with the character first seen in Neil Jordan's 1994 adaptation of the first book "Interview With the Vampire" starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. The second film was the much less high profile "Queen of the Damned" in 2002 starring Stuart Townsend and singer Aaliyah who died shortly afterwards.

That film combined both the second and third books.

Lee Patterson is writing the adapted script

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Transformers") are attached to produce the pic
