Harris, Chadwick Walk For Mandela

Naomie Harris is in talks to join the long-gestating Nelson Mandela biopic from his autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom" reports Screen Daily.

Idris Elba will play Mandela while Harris is in talks to play the role of his wife Winnie in the film which covers his entire life and career.

Morgan Freeman was originally attached but opted out--having played the South African leader in Clint Eastwood's "Invictus".

William Nicholson ("Gladiator") wrote the adapted script from which Justin Chadwick is poised to direct.

Production is set to begin on the biopic in South Africa this May after years of development.
