Uni Takes Ouija Back As A Low Budget Film

After dumping the project last August, Universal Pictures has started work again on their Untitled Ouija film-an adaptation of the board game reports Variety.

This new version will be quite different from the way it was originally intended as a big-budget action-adventure pic with McG attached to direct.

Now it will be a scaled down genre film with a budget of just $5 million

The story will still revolving use the board game that lets players communicate with the spirit world as its premise. McG has moved on.

Since its initial development folks like "Fright Night" remake writer Marti Noxon--who got her start working on the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series, Simon Kinberg. Evan Spiliotopoulos and Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have worked on the script---No word who will take over those duties for the revamped film

Producers Brian Goldner, Bennett Schneir, Andrew Form Michael Bay and Brad Fuller will remain involved, while Jason Blum's climbing on board as well.

Production aims to get underway this year for release in 2013.
