Falchuk Rewrites Script For Dirty Dancing Remake

Brad Falchuk has been hired to rewrite Maria Maggenti's screenplay for the "Dirty Dancing" remake says Variety.

The 1987 original followed a young girl Frances 'Baby' Houseman (Jennifer Grey) who falls for her dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) in the Catskills.

No casting has been announced yet.

The re imagining of the popular 1987 film will incorporate classic songs from the 1960's, hits from the original film and brand new compositions.

The original film’s choreographer Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Michael Jackson’s This Is It), will direct.

Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote and co-produced the original picture, will produce the remake with Debra Martin Chase (The Princess Diaries, The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants) and Ortega

The update is hoping for a July 26th 2013 release.
