Prime Prometheus Stuff

The promo push for Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" kicks it up a notch with the debut of a new Facebook app that includes an 'interactive starmap' including some fresh stills--among them--this one:

Today also saw the release of high-resolution versions of the  Empire Magazine cover story are now online, along with a Total DVD cover with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender.

Meanwhile The Sci-Fi Show has a long article that includes interesting quotes from practically everyone involved in making the newest chapter in the Alien franchise:

Of particular note (and QUITE SPOILERY) are comments from production designer  Arthur Max who dishes about the origin of the sets we see and the likely owners of the giant ship (The Space Jockey from "Alien") - "Very loosely, these creatures are some kind of genetic Engineers on an interplanetary level… They go around creating life. In certain ways, they’re kind of God-like."

Indeed....

Fassbender says of the characters in the film:

There’s always politics within, and that’s why, I think, this cast got together. The tempo, the pace, the intelligence of the script; each person has got their own agenda on that ship and it’s each a very individual agenda. Some people are there for the pay. Other people are there to get answers. Other people are there to hopefully attain some sort of secret. Others are there in somewhat of a spite journey. You’ve got all these collective relationships, individuals and motivations and that’s what makes quite intriguing even before the sh*t hits the fan.”

Charlize Theron Idris Elba Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Logan Marshall-Green Ben Foster and Kate Dickie co-star. With Emun Elliott Patrick Wilson and Benedict Wong also in the cast as well. Guy Pearce cameos as Peter Weyland CEO of Weyland-Yutani that became the big biz of the Alien franchise

Damon Lindelof worked with director Scott on the film script, which was originally written by Jon Spaihts.

The pic has a June 8th, 2012 release date.
