Ed Helms has joined the rom-com "They Came Together" says Deadline.
In the film Paul Rudd plays a big corporation exec who clashes with Amy Poehler as a quirky knick-knack store owner whom his company plans to shut down. That fiery relationship becomes a passionate on-again/off-again love affair.
Helms is playing Eggbert, which is Poehler’s character’s love interest and accountant.
Jason Mantzoukas will play Rudd’s best friend. While "New Girl" star Max Greenfield will play the wayward couch surfing younger brother of Rudd’s character.
The film sends standard rom-com staples like jealous exes, wise animals, co-workers who are A-holes, scary in-laws and long beauty shots of New York City.
"Wet Hot American Summer" director David Wain and Michael Showalter wrote the script years ago with the latter set to produce.
Production begins in July.
Meantime Helms will have a cameo in Rawson Thurber's "We're the Millers".
The film is about a marijuana dealer who recruits a faux family so he can get out of the business after making one last score by smuggling 1,400 pounds of pot from Mexico.
Helms would play the boss of the Jason Sudeikis character who may be hiding something nefarious and shady.
Jennifer Aniston will play the fake wife -- who’s actually a hooker.
Thurber ("Dodgeball") will direct from a Steve Faber and Bob Fisher penned script.
