GdT Talks His "Pacific Rim"

Production is well underway on Guillermo del Toro's alien actioner "Pacific Rim" and the director talked with Total Film about the movie.

The story is set in 2025, twelve years into a war against alien creatures who reside in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

He discussed the action sequences in the film and how he intends to differentiate them from each other.

"We had a Tokyo scene that we shot here in Toronto. We had several Hong Kong scenes and a few scenes in Australia, through the television. We briefly see the Kaiju (monsters) take over San Francisco. The whole Pacific Rim needs a sense of danger."

He adds:

"We take the battles far and above! Two or three of them happen in places where there have never been a battle between kaiju and robots. From the bottom of the ocean to the atmosphere of the Earth. We have a battle in a storm at sea. Every battle we try to do differently. One is seen from the point of view of a single person. We never cut away from that point of view."'

Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi Max Martini. Robert Kazinsky Clifton Collins Jr Diego Klattenhoff Ron Perlman and Willem Dafoe star in the 2013 release.

Travis Beacham penned the screenplay.

Thomas Tull Jon Jashni, del Toro. Mary Parent and Callum Greene will produce.
