Lindelof tells Collider that one way this film is bigger and different than previous 'Trek' on both film and television is that the sets are now connected, allowing for a better impression of being onboard a starship.
"One of the things that we did was we connected all the sets, so you can just basically follow the actors off the bridge, into a turbo lift, down, walking through a plaza, into the med bay as opposed to [having to] cut every time you do that, because when we were shooting on the Paramount stages we just didn't have the money to connect all the sets. So the first day that I actually walked on the Enterprise, you walked through the Enterprise and it's a very insular experience of like, 'Wow I'm actually on a starcraft.'"
He also praised Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch's villain role, stating that he gives "an iconic film performance and one of the best sci-fi performances that I've ever seen. And not even having seen the movie yet, just sitting there in video village with the headphones on."
Meantime Trek director J.J. Abrams showed up for a segment on the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Sunday night where, over his right shoulder, we got a first look at the Klingons in the new film.
The photo though just showcases the same helmet seen in an extended deleted scene on the Blu-ray of the previous film rather than a true peek of a possible new look for the alien baddies in the new Trek-timeline.
Don't expect much of a change in appearance though. co-writer Roberto Orci recently revealed in a Q&A with TrekMovie that the Klingons will still have the ridged foreheads of the prime timeline
He says the title for sequel is still being debated, the first teaser trailer he hopes will be "very soon", and the decisions are being made now as to what, if anything, will be done at Comic-Con 2012 next month in San Diego.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin Simon Pegg, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood have all returned to the Final Frontier in their respective roles as Kirk Spock Uhura Dr. McCoy Chekov Sulu, Scotty, and Admiral Pike.
The Supporting Cast Includes Nazneen Contractor who will play the wife of Noel Clarke’s family man character Alice Eve has a major role as does former "Robocop" star Peter Weller and actor/stuntman Joseph Gatt
Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Lindelof wrote the script.
The sequel will be produced by Abrams, Kurtzman, Orci, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, and David Ellison.
Now in post production the film will be released May 17, 2013 in 3D.
