MOS: Teaser Next Week & Casting Cavill

A few days before the first footage screens at this year's Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego, the Alberta Film Ratings board has confirmed that a teaser trailer for Zack Snyder's big budget reboot Superman: Man of Steel is on the way.

The G-rated trailer runs 87 seconds and is expected to go online next week at some point, and most likely attached to prints of Christopher Nolan's bat-capper "The Dark Knight Rises" next Friday.

Meanwhile Snyder recently spoke with Dotted Line about the casting of Henry Cavill as Supes:

"We had about 500 guys initially. We did this massive auditioning madness. It got down to the usual suspects in a pretty quick order. Henry Cavill was actually the first one we physically tested on film. We actually tested him in the Christopher Reeve Superman suit. And that was a big deal. That’s a hard suit to pull off. Trust me. If you’re just standing there in that suit, it’s dodgy. It felt like we just bought it a costume shop. Plus, there’s no mask. I’ve been around a few superhero costumes, and it’s weird because when you’re in the Superman costume it’s just you from the neck up. And somebody just combed your hair. But Henry came out of the trailer when we were shooting a test and everybody thought, ‘Okay, that’s Superman.’ He was awesome and did a great job.”

Cavill is joining 'Man Of Steel' Panel at SDCC...

MOS also stars Amy Adams Michael Shannon Kevin Costner Diane Lane Antje Traue Christopher Meloni Harry Lennix Laurence Fishburne Russell Crowe and Ayelet Zurer. Bradley Cooper was said to be in talks to make a cameo appearance as Lex Luthor as a set-up for sequels. But that's not been confirmed. Emmy-winning actor Richard Schiff will play Dr. Hamilton. Cooper Timberline and Dylan Sprayberry both play young Clark Kent at various ages in the film. Jadin Gould is a young Lana Lang.

David S. Goyer wrote the first screenplay draft based on a story he concocted with Christopher. His bro Jonah Nolan taking a crack at the task as well Kurt Johnstad did rewrites

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas Deborah Snyder, and Nolan will be producers on the film.

MOS flies into theaters June 14th 2013.
