The first press screenings of Christopher Nolan's bat-capper "The Dark Knight Rises" have taken place in NYC and LA and so far the reaction has been steller.
The more regular media screenings won't take place until the week of release and reviews aren't allowed to go online until Wednesday the 18th.
That hasn't stopped people tweeting reactions who attended the NY screening:
Tom McAuliffe tweeted "The trilogy is greater than the sum of its parts, and for me the 3rd was the very best part of the whole story. Dark Knight is a classic in its own right – it stands alone, but in this trilogy, and as a closer, this film exceeds. It’s an ending that presents opportunity for thought for sure. Risky/tough story well told, brilliantly acted, great cinematography, awesome score."
Another talked about the audience reaction - "As far as audience reaction, there were only 40-50 ppl in attendance (mostly critics), but there was applause and I leaned over and shook Michael Uslan's hand and congratulated him when his name appeared in the credits. I, myself, cried twice…once out of sadness and once out of pure geeky uncontrollable happiness."
Vince Peluso stated via Facebook "Wow. Quite speechless at the moment, but i'll say that TDKR was everything I wanted it to be."
Christian Bale Tom Hardy Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Marion Cotillard Josh Pence, Alon Aboutboul and Nestor Carbonell star along with a return of the trilogy's ensemble cast such as Morgan Freeman Gary Oldman and Michael Caine. Vermont Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson are also making cameos.
Matthew Modine Tom Conti Joey King Daniel Sunjata Diego Klattenhoff Christopher Judge "CSI: Miami" co-star Adam Rodriguez and Burn Gorman take on secondary roles. Rob Brown and Italian actor Massi Furlan have small roles in the film as well
Nolan called action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer that features Bane (Hardy) and Catwoman (Hathaway) plotting to take down Batman (Bale).
The sequel is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
This makes me want to squeal with happiness. I can't wait.
