Butler Nixes 300 Follow Up

Gerald Butler was keen on the idea of making a cameo appearance as King Leonidas in the the upcoming sequel /prequel "300: Battle of Artemisia". Now he's told Worst Previews he's no longer involved.

"I'm not doing it. They're filming right now. I wish them the best, but it didn't [work out]. It wasn't really my thing".

Sullivan Stapleton has won the lead role as Themosticles--the general of the Greek army. Eva Green co-stars in the role of Artemisia, the ruthless, gold-covered goddess who persuades king-turned-god Xerxes to amass his army and helps lead the charge against the Greek forces. Rodrigo Santoro is set to play Xerxes again. The UK version of "Skins" and "Eden Lake" star Jack O'Connell will play Calisto, a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16-year-old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers. Aussie actor Callan Mulvey also stars.

The giant battle at the center of the film is said to be happening simultaneously with the events of the original "300."

Noam Murro will call action.

Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann, Zack, and his wife Deborah Snyder and Gianni Nunnari will produce the picture.

300: Battle Of Artemisia is expected to hit theaters August 2nd, 2013
