"300" Follow-Up Gets A Third Title

It has been called "Xerxes". Then the title was changed to "300: Battle of Artemisia". And now the prequel/sequel has finally settled on an official and permanent title says Deadline. Henceforth the film will be known as "300: Rise Of An Empire"

Sullivan Stapleton has won the lead role as Themosticles--the general of the Greek army. Eva Green co-stars in the role of Artemisia, the ruthless, gold-covered goddess who persuades king-turned-god Xerxes to amass his army and helps lead the charge against the Greek forces. Rodrigo Santoro is set to play Xerxes again. The UK version of "Skins" and "Eden Lake" star Jack O'Connell will play Calisto, a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16-year-old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers. Aussie actor Callan Mulvey also stars.

The giant battle at the center of the film is said to be happening simultaneously with the events of the original "300."

Noam Murro will call action.

Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann, Zack, and his wife Deborah Snyder and Gianni Nunnari will produce the picture.

300: Rise Of An Empire is expected to hit theaters August 2nd, 2013
