31 Days Of Horror Day 25: Phantasm

The director Jason Christopher has a ball talking about one of his faves from 1979--Phantasm as this special month long event celebrating horror fears the Tall Man!

In 1979 I wasn’t even thought of yet. But that was the year this awesome movie Phantasm was unleashed on the world.

Two brothers discover that their local mortuary hides a legion of hooded killer dwarf creatures, a flying drill-ball, and the demonic mortician known as The Tall Man who enslaves the souls of the damned.

Michael Baldwin, whom has no relation to any of those famous acting Baldwins, plays Mike. He catches the Tall Man picking up a casket on his own and shoving it in a car, odd. Throughout the whole movie, Michael does nothing but cock block his older brother. Swearing that there’s something crazy going on at the mortician’s place.

The movie is fun and there’s this flying ball that drills into people’s heads! Blood oozes all over the place, for you gore fans out there! Anchor Bay re-released this flick under their “collection series.” It’s pretty much any price you can get it for, packed with a ton of features: interviews, deleted scenes, convention interviews, TV spots, commentaries, behind the scenes, and a ton of other features. The movie is complete fun for any horror fan.

There were three sequels after the original. None of which topped the first one. Of course not, name a horror movie that is better than the original? I bet you can only count that on one hand! So definitely don’t get confused with the other ones and check out the original Phantasm!

6 days till Halloween.
