Derrickson Adapts King's "Breathing Method"

Sinister director Scott Derrickson is set helm a feature film adaptation of Stephen King's novella "Breathing Method" says Deadline.

The adapted script will be written by Scott Teems. The story focuses on an elderly physician who recounts an incident in his career of a patient who was determined to give birth to her illegitimate child. The patient turns to the doctor because of a book he has written about a system to help women through childbirth. So determined to have the child, she lingers on even after a horrific accident on the way to the hospital.

The story was part of the 1982 four-novella anthology "Different Seasons" and is the last of the four to be adapted. The other three became the movies "The Shawshank Redemption," "Stand by Me" and "Apt Pupil".

Jason Blum will produce the film.
