Jay's Holidaze: Silent Night, Deadly Night

Nobody Gets Out Alive director Jason Christopher is back to take a look at the Christmas time horror film Silent Night, Deadly Night as his special series continues....

By now people, who know me know that I dig horror movies.I’m not even starting here with my favorite horror movie of all time, save the best for last. Lets start this strong though– Silent Night Deadly Night.

After a young boy’s parents are raped and murdered. A young tormented teenager goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa, due to his stay at an orphanage where the Mother Superior abused him.

This movie got a lot of crap when it was released. It was banned, parents were freaking out because Santa was going around killing people – c’mon. Back in 1984, when it was released, of course it was something refreshing, never seen before. Getting it banned in the UK but later released. The movie’s original distributor Tri Star pulled all ads and the flick from theaters due to its controversy.

Nowadays you can catch it re-released at Best Buy along with its god awful hilarious sequel, Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2.

The sequel is GREAT for a comedy movie. It’s completely ridiculous and lacks any interest from me. GARBAGE DAAAAAAY. Yeah, more like garbage movie, pow! I never saw the other six sequels? Never was interested in catching them. I DID, however, catch the loose remake – Silent Night. It was a fun little flick, straightforward horror movie! I enjoyed it! The director, Steven C. Miller, even includes a nice nod to the second one though.

So for this holiday, if you haven’t caught the original Silent Night Deadly Night, go check it out! If you want to check out the remake – Silent Night…just came out December 4th!

NAAAAUUUGGGHHHTTTYYY.
