Golden Globes '13: Winners & More

Last night pals Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the 70th annual Golden Globes on NBC...For this year's post mortem I enlisted the help of my niece Sara and her husband Nick--asking for their overall thoughts on the festivities...You'll hear from them a bit later on...But First

The biggest surprise for me I suppose was Argo winning for Best Picture-Drama and Best Director  Ben Affleck. Not that Ben doesn't deserve it...I am super happy that Daniel Day-Lewis won for Lincoln and Adele won for the title track to Skyfall. I hope his win for best Screenplay puts filmmaker Quentin Tarantino in a better mood...He's been a bit GRUMPY lately....(Tarantino Says N-Word Backstage, Calls Prison System Modern Slavery)

Now for something a bit different Take  it away Sara and Nick:

Hey Uncle T-

We had a great time watching the awards show! First of all, I won our contest which means I get to pick where we go out to dinner next! We both did much better with predicting the winners in the movie categories than the television categories. I was surprised but so happy that Les Mis won best comedy/musical.

Nick felt (and I agreed) that the hosts were ok but it was strange that they were barely on the show. Their jokes weren't that funny either. Both of us agreed that Kristen Wigg/ Will Ferrel were our favorite presenters. Nick's favorite acceptance speech was Christoph Waltz's, mine was Anne Hathaway's. The most touching moment for Nick was Kevin Costner's speech, for me it was a toss up between when Jodie Foster mentioned her mom and Jessica Chastain thanked her grandmother.

Brave winning best animated movie was the icing on the cake- great movie showing the strong bond between mother and daughter. The golden globes are just great to watch because you get you see the stars in a more relaxed setting.

Love you

Thanks to you both! I love you too!!
