Clifton Collins Jr. Gets "Transcendence"

Clifton Collins Jr. has joined the cast of "The Dark Knight" cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut "Transcendence" says Variety. Details of the part he plays are not yet known.


In the Jack Paglen penned script Johnny Depp plays a scientist trying create the first self-aware computer. Somewhere along the way, he dies and his consciousness is uploaded into this supercomputer by his wife (Rebecca Hall). Then that computer is connected to the internet.

Paul Bettany will play a fellow scientist. Cillian Murphy plays another science guy. Morgan Freeman and Kate Mara also star.

Christian Bale, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire, Noomi Rapace and Christoph Waltz were all circling the film.

Marisa Polvino, Kate Cohen, Annie Marter, David Valdes, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce.

Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers.

Pfister has worked on seven of Nolan’s films since "Memento" including his Batman trilogy and "Inception" for which he won an Oscar.

Shooting kicks off in the next month in LA for release in theaters by April 2014
