Fetters Tapped To Write "New World" Redux For Sony

Sony Pictures has picked up the remake rights to writer/director Hoon-jung Park's recent South Korean crime thriller "New World" says Deadline.

After spending eight intense years deep undercover, a cop has become the right-hand man to the leader of South Korea's largest crime syndicate, Goldmoon. Things get complicated when that leader is killed in a car accident, and various criminal factions vie to be named his replacement.

Lee Jeong-jae, Min-sik Choi and Jeong-min Hwang starred.

Will Fetters ("The Lucky One") will write the adapted screenplay for the remake.

Roy Lee and Dan Lin will produce the pic.
