Frank Langella has joined the cast of the football film "Draft Day" says Deadline.
Kevin Costner plays the general manager of an American football team struggling to find the right player to select with their top overall pick. Denis Leary will play Vince Penn, the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns, who finds himself at odds with Costner.
Langella will play Harvey Molina, the fictional owner of the team
Meantime, The Wrap reports that Ellen Burstyn will play Costner’s tough mother, whose football coach of a husband just passed away and must now deal with her son. While Josh Pence ("The Dark
Knight Rises") will play the expected first pick in the NFL draft.
Jennifer Garner will play the secretary of Costner's character.
Ivan Reitman is directing from a screenplay by Rajiv Joseph and Scott Rothman.
Ali Bell Tom Pollock and Reitman will produce the film.
Part of the film will be shot at the April 25th NFL draft to be take place at Radio City Music Hall and then will move to Cleveland.
The project was initially set up at Paramount, but the option ran out and the studio put it into turnaround. When the script landed the top spot on the 2012 Black List, Summit Entertainment's entered talks for the distribution rights.
