Next "Friday The 13th" Due March 2015

Paramount has scheduled the next film in the Friday the 13th film franchise for a March 13th 2015 release indicated by Exhibitor Relations,

Paramount owned the rights to the franchise throughout the 1980s and for the first eight films in the series. The rights were then sold to New Line Cinema who created the ninth and tenth film along with "Freddy vs. Jason".

Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes rebooted the franchise in 2009 with Warner Bros -owned New Line taking domestic and Paramount taking international rights, but ultimately Warners still owned the franchise. Despite making $91 million worldwide, a sequel to reboot stalled over the tangled rights issues.

Earlier this year, the Mountain got the rights to the franchise back for at least five years as part of a deal which saw them walk away from their commitment to Chris Nolan's "Interstellar".

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote the 2009 reboot and "Freddy Vs. Jason", have returned to do the script for the new one, though there's no official word as yet on the casting or storyline--one idea is making the next chapter a found footage movie.
