THR reports that Ciaran Hinds has joined the cast of "Agent 47," the cinematic reboot of the Hitman video game series.

Homeland co-star Rupert Friend replaces Paul Walker as the lead--Walker was slated to star in this do-over once he wrapped James Wan's Fast & Furious 7 but he was killed in a tragic car crash half way through production.

The complete details of Hinds' role are being kept under wraps, but we do know that it surrounds a pivotal event involving a scientist.

German actor Thomas Kretschmann ("Avengers: Age of Ultron," The "King Kong" remake) plays LeClerq, the chairman of Syndicate International, an organization which is striving to create an army of unstoppable agents.

Zachary Quinto will do the project after his stage commitments on "The Glass MenagerieHannah Ware ("Oldboy," "Boss") will play the female lead

Action pic scribes Skip Woods Kyle Ward, and Michael Finch have written the script, from which commercials director Aleksander Bach will make his big screen debut.

The games were previously translated to film in 2007 starring Timothy Olyphant, Olga Kurylenko and Dougray Scott, The film took in $100 million worldwide despite negative reviews. Woods also wrote that film as well

Over twenty million copies of the five game series have sold since it began back in 2000. The most recent game, "Hitman: Absolution," was released late last year to solid reviews. An HD trilogy re-release of the second through fourth games was released as well.

Chuck Gordon, Alex Young and Adrian Askarieh will produce the new film.

Filming is currently underway in Berlin.
