Doug Liman is in final talks to direct the film adaptation of Ubisoft's video game "Splinter Cell" says Heat Vision.
The series follows a covert operative and have sold
twenty-three million units over the years. The film's story centers on
Sam Fisher, a highly-trained operative in a secretive unit known as
Echelon.
Tom Hardy remains attached to star in the film.
"The International" screenwriter Eric Warren Singer has been hired to write the script.
Basil Iwanyk and Jean-Julien Baronnet are producing the project.
Ubisoft will be very involved and retain control over how the game is translated into a film.
The movie is eyeing an
August production start date for a 2015 release.
The film has been in the works for nearly as decade with Peter Berg previously attached to direct.
