Zombieland Writers Tasked To Pen "Watch Dogs" Flick

Deadline is reporting that "Zombieland" scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will write the live-action film based on Ubisoft's highly anticipated video game "Watch Dogs".

Sony Pictures New Regency Enterprises and Ubisoft Motion Pictures Group are developing the film that will follow Aiden Pearce, a hacker who turns the city of Chicago into his personal stomping grounds to carry out his own brand of justice after a violent family tragedy. He's aided by his ability to tap into Chicago's ctOS, a centralized operating system that runs the entire city's infrastructure. This gives him control of everything including traffic lights, surveillance cameras, subway systems and power grids, along with access to people's personal information.

The game is set for release on  May 27, 2014

The project is one of three films that Sony, New Regency and Ubisoft are developing together - the other two being the Tom Hardy-led film version of the  video game "Splinter Cell" and the Michael Fassbender-led film adaptation of the acclaimed "Assassin's Creed" video game series.
