X-Mem Movies: Kinberg On "Apocalypse" & Quicksilver Vid

Out promoting Bryan Singer's "X-Men Days of Future Past" writer and producer Simon Kinberg spoke to  Superhero Hype about the next film in the series "X-Men: Apocalypse" and how it will potentially top 'Days' in terms of scale:

"We want to tell the Apocalypse story and there's massive scale and scope to telling that story. There's going to be set pieces that I suspect are going to be bigger than anything we've ever done in an X-Men movie before and he's a great character. The biggest and funnest challenge of the Apocalypse movie to me is his character. How do you create a new villain for the X-Men world that is as good as any villain that's come before, is compelling philosophically as Magneto, not just in his physical powers, but in his philosophical depth. 'Apocalypse' is going to be a fun movie to write and make."

X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" screenwriters Mike Dougherty & Dan Harris and Kinberg are writing the script for "Apocalypse" .

The younger actors introduced in "X-Men: First Class" James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast). Lucas Till (Alex “Havoc” Summers), etc. are contracted for three films and are locked in to return.

Because the film is a direct sequel to "Days of Future Past" it will focus strictly on the younger cast as they take on the comic's greatest villain Apocalypse.

The film will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 opposite Alice in Wonderland 2

Meantime 'Days' had its first media screenings this week. While posting reviews are embargoed, social media reaction from press in attendance has been very positive.

Fox also released a new character profile for American Horror Story favorite Evan Peters as the speedy Quicksilver in the film.

Many fanboys have been skeptical about the character, in large measure due to his costume, but the critics who've seen the film so far say that he is a scene stealer and the sequence he is in is a real highlight.

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" hits screens May 23rd 2014.
